Effingham U11’s clean up against Teddington
Effingham U11’s v Teddington U11’s
On a chilly Saturday morning, Effingham Under 11’s batted first but unfortunately lost a few quick wickets. After nine overs and with the score on 40-5, a total of 100 plus looked very unlikely. However, thanks to some steady lower order batting from Jake Rafaelli (19) and Sam Partridge (11), supported by Thomas Stratten (8no) and Lucas Townend (7no), the innings started to look much healthier; a couple of notable partnerships also made a big difference – 27 between Sam Partridge and William Burbidge and 25 between Thomas Stratten and Lucas Townend, both of which enabled Effingham to reach a challenging total of 107 from their 20 overs.
Effingham’s bowlers took control from the start and by the sixth over, the Teddington U11’s score was 5-5. Despite doing their best to try and recover from such a poor start, they never made any real progress and were all out for 61. The bowling honours went to Thomas Stratten who took 3 wickets for no runs, and he was well supported by Lucas Townend with 2 for 5.
Effingham Cricket Club are very keen to increase the membership of their under 11’s and under 12’s. For further details, please contact Martin Keay – 07525 497512.
