Club Coaches
At Effingham Cricket Club, our junior players are supported by fully qualified, ECB certified coaches. We ask all our coaches to take the ECB courses through to a minimum of level 2. This ensures we have coaches who can design effective, varied and fun training sessions for our junior cricketers that focus on investing in core cricketing techniques and disciplines but at the same time allowing for freedom of expression in an environment where everyone finds the confidence to try new things. Ensuring that everyone is enjoying themselves, regardless of ability, in a pressure free environment is how we like to operate.
Meet our ECB Level 2 Certified Coaching Team:
Josh Farrell
ECB Level 2 Certified Coach
“Hi, I’m Josh and I’ve been an ECB certified level 2 coach since 2015 when I took the formal coaching course at the Surrey Cricket Centre in Guildford.
I’m passionate about helping junior crickters develop their skills and spend a lot of my time at the club working with the junior age groups.
You’ll find me at the club most Friday nights when we have our junior training sessions.
I am also endorsed by the club to offer individual 1-2-1 coaching sessions by private arrangement.”
Paul Stroud
ECB Level 2 Certified Coach
“Hi, I’m Paul and I’ve been an ECB certified level 2 coach since 2012 when I took, and thoroughly enjoyed, the course provided by the professionals at the Surrey Cricket Centre in Guildford.
The course equipped me with a host of invaluable tools, skills and information which transformed my ability to develop coaching sessions that were varied, interesting and relevant for our young cricketers.
I’m around at the club for most of our junior training sessions where I spend time assisting all groups, I also attend matches.”
Ed Cooper
ECB Level 2 Certified Coach
“Hi, I’m Ed and I’ve been playing cricket at Effingham since I was a junior myself.
I am very passionate about the game and was delighted to be asked to join the ECC coaching team. The formal L2 coaching qualification was a very educational process and I really enjoy applying the ECB professional techniques to the fun, but challenging coaching sessions I lead at the Club.”
Joe Roberts
ECB Level 2 Certified Coach
“Hi, I’m Joe and since earning my L2 qualification in 2018 I have helped to run the junior training sessions.
As a youngster I benefitted from the coaching at Effingham, so when the opportunity to earn this qualification came about, I was eager to give back to the club.
Completing the course was a highly rewarding experience as I learned a great deal which I now apply to my coaching sessions, and I would recommend it to anyone interested in cricket, wanting to earn a formal qualification.”
Winter Training
We have a variety of training on offer throughout the winter, normally running from early in the New Year through to April as we approach the start of the new cricket season.
Winter Nets 2023
6th February – 3rd April, Howard of Effingham School:
- For under 9s, 10s and 12s (boys and girls), there will be weekly winter net practice sessions at Howard of Effingham School
The following videos are from some of our previous sessions at the Surrey Cricket Centre. These sessions are attended by our own coaches but led by the professional coaching staff. We find these sessions particularly valuable in helping young cricketers develop solid, effective techniques for batting, bowling, fielding and keeping wicket. These sessions are hugely popular with the youngsters and everyone gets a lot out of each session.
