Effingham Cricket Club is proud to recognise our junior players that have distinguished themselves by achieving selection to play in representative cricket in Surrey. We actively support any talented cricketer that deserves the opportunity to play representative cricket and regularly put players forward to attend county and district trials.
Here, and in their own words, are those junior players from Effingham Cricket Club that were successful in reaching representative level:
Surrey - Central District
U15
2015
“I played district cricket for 1 year and had a great experience, I particularly enjoyed the trials and training sessions.
It was a good introduction to playing cricket at a higher level and a great challenge for me, especially playing with other boys that I hadn’t met before.
I only played in one match as they pick such large squads but I would recommend trying out for district cricket, you’ve got nothing to lose!”
Surrey - West District
U15
2015
““I really enjoyed playing district cricket.
It was a good way to play the game at a higher standard and really test myself, as well as playing with different players from other clubs.
I would definitely recommend that all good players attend the trials and give this a go if you get the chance. It is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills as an individual due to the high quality coaching sessions that were available for us.”
Surrey - West District
U14, U15
2014, 2015
I didn’t really enjoy district cricket at all. Despite being selected twice through the trials, I didn’t feel welcome into a group that had been playing together for several years already.
There were few opportunities for players outside the main clique, the rest of us were just making up the numbers and not selected very often.
The pre-season coaching at Surrey Cricket Centre was the only worthwhile aspect for me.”
Surrey - Central District
U12, U13, U14
2012, 2013, 2014
“I spent 3 seasons playing for Central District and I really enjoyed my time. I played a number of games throughout the years and received a large amount of coaching and advice at the winter nets. I got to play at some really great grounds and with some nice people that I still see, and play against, today.
If you’re thinking about trialling, go for it.”
