It is with the utmost sadness that the Club has to report the tragic death yesterday of one of our senior players, Mark Collin, who was taken ill at the 1st XI match at Newdigate. Despite strenuous efforts on the part of players, paramedics, the air ambulance and hospital staff, Mark passed away late yesterday afternoon at Kings College Hospital, London.
We are shocked and saddened at the loss of a highly respected and much loved friend, team-mate and Club member and send our most sincere and heartfelt condolences to all his immediate family.
We are very grateful for all the messages of support and condolence that have been received so far from within the cricketing community and especially to Newdigate Cricket Club who did everything they could to provide assistance.
There is a book of condolence available on this site from the top menu with instructions for those wishing to leave a message.
Our thanks go to Fullers Brewery Surrey County League and The Surrey Championship for their incredible support in arranging a county-wide one minute silence in memory of Mark before the start of club matches on Saturday the 26th of August.
