Third win on the trot indoors
Third win on the trot for Effingham U13/14 Indoor
Effingham pulled off a thoroughly professional victory against our indoor rivals and top of the table, Weybridge on Sunday. We expected the game to be tight and accurate bowling would be key. We bowled first, and after a 3 wides in Sam P’s first over, we then settled down making it difficult for Weybridge to score. This week we used just 4 bowlers, and all did well with Sam C and Lucas taking wickets. The ever dangerous Henry Francis was brilliantly run out by Sam S with a reverse side arm throw after Lucas had spilled an opportunity to dismiss him earlier. Sam P also produced a bit of magic with a run out throw from almost the length of the hall, followed by another run out by Lucas. Weybridge posted 101-5 off their 12 overs, so we knew if we batted well, a win could be on the cards.
Weybridge started well with the early dismissal of Max, but Raymond and Sam P looked to assert their authority on the bowlers. With 3 runs for each wide, Weybridge then seemed to implode, with all their bowlers regularly straying down the leg side. This made life easy for the batsmen who did not have to take the risks and milked the odd ball for singles. Weybridge conceded 57 in wides compared to our impressive 21, and we coasted home with 2 overs to spare. Sam P top scored with 21 with Raymond 14 not out.
