New Storage facility for Effingham Cricket Club
A new sight greeted visitors to the Calburn Cricket Field this summer as the club completed the building of a new super-secure storage facility.
The security is provided by two 20’ shipping containers. These containers are designed to protect valuable cargo as it travels around the world on large container ships. They are designed to be secure and resistant to the most hostile conditions and should therefore provide a safe home for our grounds keeping equipment and other valuables.
Security had become a problem over the past few years with thieves targeting the previous storage facility on a number of occasions.
The club also understands the need to keep Calburn Cricket Field looking like a traditional village cricket club and the addition of two large storage containers to the side of the pitch was not in keeping with that image. The plan therefore included shrouding the containers with a bespoke barn and this is the vision visitors are greeted with as they arrive at the ground.
The club would like to express sincere thanks to all at EVRT who gave invaluable help during the planning process, and to Guildford Borough Council, who’s Community Grants Scheme provided 50% of the project funding.
Over the past 18 months Effingham Cricket Club has refurbished the nets, bought a new electronic scoreboard, replaced the perimeter fencing, installed protective bollards, acquired mobile covers, removed all outbuildings, built a new garage and completely refurbished the square. #tangiblestuff
