ECC Champion golfer for 2017
The Effingham CC Golf Society met on the 18th July to decide the Champion Golfer for 2017.
Amongst the entrants this year were the defending champion, Joel Stroud and the pre-tournament favourite Ben Windsor playing off a handicap of 4.
Despite the drizzle, nearly everybody played well on the day with Stableford scores ranging from 29 to 39 in what turned out to be a tight contest.
It was mixed fortunes for the Chairman and Vice Chairman however, with Paul Stroud picking up the wooden spoon and David Roberts winning the trophy by a couple of points from Ben Windsor in second place.
Ben didn’t miss out completely, he won nearest the pin, and Joseph Roberts uncharacteristically kept his ball on the fairway to win the longest drive.
Thanks to Effingham Golf Club for hosting the event, and to all those who took part.
Dave Roberts
ECC Vice Chairman
