ECC Committee Approves Major Square Renovation
Effingham Cricket Club has announced major plans to rebuild the square at The Calburn Cricket Field. The intention is to substantially improve the quality of the playing surface and the capacity of the club to support more cricket matches.
As regular players at ECC will know, the square would benefit from some investment and research indicates that it has not been relaid in the last 40 years. Following a comprehensive review with professional consultation, the square will be completely leveled, resurfaced with a new seed bed and extended to provide 3 extra wickets. The saddles at the bowling ends that we’ve all come to know and love will be removed so the square is level with the outfield.
The Club is currently seeking a grant to support this project which is scheduled to begin immediately after the final home game of the season. Club groundsman Gary Holland will oversee the project and the subsequent work required to nurse the new square into life for the 2018 season.
Following the installation of the new storage facility, this is another 5 figure investment project and represents another major step forwards in the development of the Club.
