After a disappointing performance the previous week, the E’s were determined to exhibit their true ability and having been asked to field, the bowlers knew that they had to maintain a consistent tight line. The fielding was sharp, which provided full support for the Effingham attack, who restricted the home side to 138 all out in 44.3 overs. Eight of the wickets were shared between Alex Cooper (2-24), Josh White (2-23), Nick Procter (2-22) and captain Adam Burlison (2-21). Sheen Park’s two main scorers were T.Ahmad with 42 and Z.Butt who got 21.

Effingham started well with a 50 partnership between Jake White and Harrison Green, which laid the foundation for a comfortable victory. In addition to Harrison Green’s 16, Jake White went on to score 52 from just 48 balls, and there were further contributions from Nick Procter (21), Cameron Walters (14), and Jordon Bond, who with 19 not out, was still there at the end, with Josh White (4 not out) to secure an Effingham win by 5 wickets.

There was a lighthearted moment during the match when a powerful drive for four entered the bushes and disturbed a resident hedgehog!
